Here are some of my recent and past activities.

29th Jun to 5th July 2026

Once again I was happy to be included as an activator for GB2WWA in the 2026 WWA Sprint event.  I missed out on the "gold" activator award by just 19 contacts.  My Acom 1010 was out of action for this event so all my contacts were made running my FTdx101MP barefoot into my EFT antenna described elsewhere on this site.  As usual this event had it's "naysayers" but I found it a lot of fun and, once again, it generated a lot of activity on the bands.

1st to 31st January 2026

I was happy to take part as an activator for GB2WWA in the 2026 World Wide Award event.  Although I did make a few SSB contacts in this event the vast majority were CW.  It was great fun being the operator of an "in demand" callsign!

The GB2WWA team made a total of 169,596 contacts across all bands and modes during this event and finished in 3rd place worldwide.  The certificate below shows that I was placed 52nd for numbers of CW contacts over the event.....there were a total of 510 CW operators worldwide.  All of those contacts were make using the end fed ("EFT") antenna described elsewhere on this site.

I know that there were people that didn't like this event and regarded it as just yet another contest.  However, it did generate a lot of activity on the bands.  Personally I am looking forward to taking part in a 1 week sprint event later this year and the 2027 WWA event in January 2027.
